What Is Invisalign?Invisalign is a discreet orthodontic procedure that allows one to align their teeth correctly without the visibility of metal wires and brackets that come with braces.
What Are Its Benefits?Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. No one may even notice that you're wearing them, making Invisalign a seamless fit with your lifestyle. Invisalign aligners are also removable so you can eat and drink what you would like without any fear of breaking the oral equipment. This also allows you to brush and floss as you normally would, allowing you to keep good oral hygiene. Invisalign allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you start so you can see how your straightened teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
How Long Is The Treatment Process?Depending on how misaligned the teeth are, treatment with Invisalign can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months. This is often a much shorter treatment time in comparison to traditional braces.
How Often Do I See My Invisalign Doctor?Typically we’ll schedule appointments to see patients every 5 to 6 weeks for regular updates and adjustments.
Are There Any Foods That I am Forbidden From Eating? No! Unlike braces, you can eat whatever your heart desires. The only caveat to that statement is that you must remove the aligners prior to eating. Once you have finished, it is important to remember to practice good oral hygiene and brush both your teeth and the aligners.
How Often Do I Need To Wear The Aligners? For optimum results, the aligners should be worn for at least 22 hours per day. The only real exceptions should be during times of eating, drinking, and regular oral hygiene.
Can I smoke with Aligners? While it is possible, we highly advise against it. Smoking can discolor them, which would counter the whole point of getting an invisible tooth correction treatment.
Can I Chew Gum?Of course! And similar to food, all we ask is that you remove the aligners prior to consuming, as they will get stuck to them otherwise.
Is There Any Discomfort Throughout The Treatment? There will be some pressure and minor discomfort for a day or two after each initial insertion. This is actually a good thing, as it shows that your teeth are shifting sequentially into their final position.
Will My Speech Be Affected While Wearing Aligners?Similar to any orthodontic treatment, there is an adjustment period in which your mouth will have to get used to speaking with aligners. The more you talk and converse, the quicker the adjustment period should be.
How Do I Clean Them?Aligners can be cleaned by simply brushing them under warm water.
Will I Need Retainers After Treatment? We instruct all of our orthodontic patients to wear a nightly retainer indefinitely as it will help keep their bite healthy and teeth in optimum shape.
What If My Teeth Shift Again? We highly recommend all our patients to use their retainer to their fullest extent. In the event that your teeth shift once more, you can always come in for correction adjustments and be put back on the treatment if need be.
